Edinburgh

A few weeks ago Boy and I jumped on a plane to Edinburgh for a few days. Here's some of our favourite foodie finds...
For breakfast we both loved The Edinburgh Larder which was just a short walk from the infamous The Royal Mile. Great porridge, cooked breakfasts (with homemade baked beans) and the most friendly staff.

For elevenses, Love Crumbs in the Old Town is a must. I enjoyed the best scone I've had in a long while whilst Boy tucked into a caramel brownie. This place is gorgeously decorated with branches, cacti and mismatched cutlery. Another place for those with a sweet tooth is Mimi's Bakehouse where you'll find the most incredible selection of traybakes.

Many won't be surprised that we also tried a burger, or two. We stayed at The Balmoral and ordered one from the room service menu which was a monster of Blairgowrie beef, Mull cheddar and bacon. Although, we equally enjoyed the burger and hot dogs at City Cafe diner just up from the main station. We definitely didn't demolish a stack of maple pancakes as a side order to our meal...! A great stop for a drink or two also, or even a burger challenge if you're more than a little peckish.

And finally, after a little investigating, we found Clamshell - the place to go if you haven't already tried a deep-fried Mars Bar. Or even pizza! You'll see my anxious face above, although I more than enjoyed it so much I wanted another...oops!
